8 weeks and 1 day

Today I am 8 weeks and 1 day. I knew I wouldn't be as far along as I thought but that's ok. We had our first appointment today, which was very exciting. The doctor came in and did all the routine things and said she would grab her dinosaur ultrasound machine and let us see our baby (an ultrasound at 8 weeks isn't routine). So we were just excited to get to see him with her old machine. At the very end, with the end frame on the screen, she kept looking at it and said, let's just let you go next door and get an ultrasound with a new machine just to make sure there's not 2 in there. She said she was 95% sure there was just one but the last picture looked suspicious. So we got an actual ultrasound done, with pictures and a DVD! It confirmed we are just having 1. We saw his little heartbeat, which was measuring at 164 bpm, which was good. I was relieved to see his heartbeat and know all is well. We go back on Oct. 30 for our next visit and I can't wait for that one either!! At that one we'll listen to his heartbeat again with the doppler. Here's our little bean's first pictures:

7 weeks

Today marks 7 weeks. Yes, only 7 weeks. Shouldn't I be atleast 10 weeks by now?! Hope this doesn't mean the rest of the pregnancy will continue to be this slow. Nothing new really- still no morning sickness, although I have felt a little queasy at times. I'm usually more tired at the end of the day. I'm not sure if you're technically supposed to be "showing" at 7 weeks but I feel like my stomach has gotten bigger- maybe it's just bloat, I don't really know. I took some more pictures- let's compare them to the 5 week pictures and see! :)


















Yep, I would say I'm bigger. 12 more days til our appointment- can't wait!!!

Just 34 weeks left...

Sure does sound like a long time, but I know it will go by so fast! Before I know it, we'll have our little one here. Today marks 6 weeks- I'm curious to see if the doctor agrees with that later this month.



By now our little one is the size of a sweet pea.

really...and to think that in only 34 weeks it will
probably be at least 7 pounds! Amazing, simply amazing!!!




I still have yet to experience true pregnancy symptoms. Still no morning sickness. Occasional cramping throughout the day and I have noticed that at night I'm more tired than usual but it's not anything I can't deal with. Less than 3 weeks now until our appointment and I couldn't be more excited. Before getting pregnant, I always thought I would want to wait to find out the sex, but I don't know if I can wait that long. :) We might just have to find out sooner.....

We got our first baby gift today! It felt so strange getting one that I'm actually going to keep! It's the cutest little baby frog rattle/blanket and it's so soft!!

I think that's all I can think of right now...I think I'm ready for bed now. :)

Surprise!!

So tonight we had planned to tell my mom and Jason's parents about the big news over dinner. His mom thought something was up when she walked in our house and saw my mom. We were gathered in the kitchen fixing our plates and Jason took the camera to take a picture. Instead of saying "Say Cheese" he said "Say Renee's Pregnant!!" and then snapped the shot. Here's how it turned out:
So my mom and his mom were excited and wanted to start calling people right after they found out. I think they were somewhat in shock too. As his mom and dad were pulling out of the driveway, I'm pretty sure I saw his mom on the phone. I imagine the whole family will know by tomorrow. :)

Pregnancy and Memory

I've always heard that when you get pregnant, your memory goes out the door. I never thought it started this early. Yesterday was one of those moments. I get all ready for work- have my phone, car keys, water, lip gloss (which I have to have) and now I'm ready to start another day of work. As always, I put on my lipstick on my way to work- only yesterday when I went to grab my lip stick out of my purse, my purse was no where to be found. I had left home without it!! Although, I guess I had all my necessities. :) I'm not off to a very good start!!

So tomorrow we will be telling some of our family- my mom and brothers and then Jason's parents. I plan to tell my dad on his birthday next month. I know it's early, but I really want them to know. I'm hoping they can keep it a secret for several more weeks, until we feel safer that everything is growing well. But, we're having them all over for dinner and will tell them then. I am so excited and I can't wait to see their reactions!!! I'll update with pictures tomorrow!

Hello Everyone!

Everyone is doing it, right? And I've got a very good reason to start a blog- only because we're having a baby!! That's right, we're expecting- early May 2010.

Here's the proof:

Today marks 5 weeks! The fact that I'm pregnant really hasn't hit me yet. I think it has to do with the fact that I'm really not having any symptoms, so I don't really feel pregnant. I have the occasional cramping but other than that, that's it. I'll take that as a blessing because I'm sure it won't last long. I have my first doctor's appointment scheduled for September 28 at 1:00 and we are both so excited!! We both took the day off from work, which will be really nice. I'm praying everything is fine and the little baby is growing strong!

Even though it's early, I've already been thinking about baby names and I'm finding it harder to pick out girl's names that I like. That probably means we'll be having a girl. :)
