The theme for his 3rd birthday party was Mickey Mouse and I wanted to keep it simple and cute! I decided to do 1 DIY project, which were the cute centerpieces. After browsing online, I got some ideas and came up with my own creation. Here is how they turned out:
They were pretty easy to make too. I used 2 different sized foam balls (the smooth kind, not the rough), 2 different sized dowel rods, some pre-cut foam stars in the colors I needed (I think that was just luck), some floral foam, gum balls, and mason jars. Luckily my mother already had the right sized mason jars so I didn't have to buy any of those. The gum balls can be replaced with lots of other stuff, i.e. m&ms, sand, marbles, etc. First, Jason cut the dowel rods to the lengths I needed. I put the mickey ears together by using the thicker rods and toothpicks to attach his ears. Then I spray painted the mickeys and the other dowel rods black. The stars were just glued onto the thinner rods. The floral foam was cut into small pieces, small enough to fit through the jar opening. Then I just placed the sticks down in there and filled them with gum balls- it was that easy and I think they turned out super super cute!! Other decorations were just balloons, pictures of Bennett, and a happy birthday banner that I bought at walmart (didn't feel like tackling another DIY project for that). Simple but just enough!!
Bennett enjoyed all of his buddies coming over and just playing. We grilled out hamburgers and hotdogs and had some sides. I was afraid the rain was going to prevent the kids from getting outside but they actually had a chance to get out so I was really happy about that!! Then we ate cake and ice cream and opened presents. Can't believe his 3rd birthday party is already come and gone!!
Waiting on his buddies to arrive |
