On the Move....It Won't Be Long!!

Leah turned 6 months old last week and I still can't believe my baby girl is half a year old!!  I had written a 4 month post but it didn't get saved and I lost it and I just haven't found the time to post an update again.  I figured I better go ahead and do one now before she's a year old and I still haven't done one.  :)  Leah is growing big and strong and wants so bad to keep up with her brother.  She is the cutest, happiest little thing and even though she isn't sleeping well, it's hard not to smile when you're around her.  She lights up and makes you want to do the same thing.  :)

So, her stats: 19 pounds 5 ounces and 26.75 inches long- both are above average percentages.  While she weighs a lot for her age, her length keeps her from looking too chunky.  She's just perfect!!  Her check up went well, she took her shots like a champ- cried a little but then gave the nurse a big smile once I picked her up.  :)  We are still battling a blocked tear duct in her left eye, so the doctor is treating that again with some eye drops.  Hopefully she will outgrow that soon because her eyes are just too beautiful for that!

Leah is sitting up pretty well.  She still looses her balance every so often so I have to catch her, but she's doing really good!!  She's rolling over and scooting around and it won't be long before she's crawling and keeping me on my toes!!  She loves everything her brother has and would rather play with his toys than the baby toys we have for her. :)

We started her on some oatmeal cereal a week ago.  She's not too sure about it just yet.  I gave her some bites of banana and she's not too sure about that either.  Hopefully after lots of practice she'll love to eat!  :)  I'm only feeding her solids once a day and I plan to ease into it slowly so she can get the hang of it!  She's nursing every 3 to 4 hours during the day and lately has been getting up twice at night to nurse.  Yes, I said twice.  It's been a bit exhausting and I can only think maybe it's a growth spurt or sleep regression.  Not really sure but I'm just kinda going with it.  I try to soothe her back down with the paci but she won't have it and only wants to nurse.  She's still not a fan of the paci and only takes it when she sleeps.  Which is fine with me because maybe it will make it easier to take away later when she's older.  My goal is to have it gone when she turns 1 year, like Bennett, but we'll see how it goes.

Overall, she's doing wonderful and is just a little sweet pea!  Here are some pictures for your enjoyment!

Bennett is growing like a weed too!  Just a few more months til he turns 4!!!  My neighbor asked me just yesterday if it felt like 4 years have passed and I said no, it honestly does not feel like it has been 4 years, 4 years that we've been enjoying with Bennett.  When they say time flies, it true!  It flies and you can't go back.  I'm trying to remember that so that I can savor every day with him.  He's turning into such a wonderful little boy.

Year 3 has given us some trying times (terrible twos and terrible threes!!), but we've worked through them and he's learning and really wants to make everyone happy.  He's still head strong but I've learned that if you give him 2 choices (2 that I can live with) he's happy as a clam to make his choice and feel like he's getting what he wants.  :)  Staying at home with my children has been the best thing I have ever done.  While it's tough, I know this is the way it's supposed to be- my kids need me at home taking care of them.  I can't say that I'm perfect, but each day I strive to be the best mom to them and with the Lord's help I'm making it!!  :)  And I'm learning just as much as Bennett- I'm learning that just talking to your children makes a world of difference, talking them through a tantrum helps turn the mood around and keep it from escalating.  Just watching your kids play (with no TV or phone) makes a world of difference too.  I'm learning to put my phone down more and just be in the moment.  Staying at home lets me do that- it lets me be in the moment.  Pretty soon Bennett will be going to school all day, I've got to cherish these days.  My baby boy is growing up!!!!

Here are some pics from our recent snow day, which Bennett loved!

My kids are my life and I couldn't be more proud of them.  They are beautiful inside and out!!!  I've got to remember the hard days are days of learning and growing, to be the best mother I can!
