How does a year go by so fast?

A couple of weeks ago my baby turned 1!!  Her first year has been the fastest year yet!  I honestly can't remember those first couple of months home with her- I was extremely busy and extremely sleep deprived.  But here we are, Leah is now 1 and I couldn't be more proud to call her my daughter.  She is such a joy!!!

So what is Leah up to these days?  Anything and everything!!! She is busy, busy, busy!!  She isn't walking yet but every day she gets closer and closer to working up that confidence to take her first steps.  She is a climber; she will climb anything and if she falls off, she gets right back up to try it again!  I don't really remember Bennett climbing this soon, but maybe he did.

Things she loves:

  • to climb
  • to pull all the toys out onto the floor (especially when I have just cleaned them up)  :)
  • to eat- she loves pretty much anything I give her; from meat (chicken, hamburger, sausage, pork) to broccoli, beans, strawberries, grapes, raisins, pasta, cheese, yogurt, bread, really anything.  She isn't picky, yet!
  • to play with her brother; she loves to do what he's doing- sometimes he likes it, sometimes not
  • mommy- she is my shadow.  Seriously, I can't put her down without her climbing back up my leg.
  • bathtime!!!  This girl loves her some water.  When she gets out she fusses.  We're going to the beach in a couple of weeks and I think she's going to LOVE it!
Things she doesn't love:

  • getting dressed
  • getting her diaper changed
  • getting out of the bath

At her 1 year well check she weighed in at 21 pounds and was 29 inches long.  Compared to Bennett, she's just a little smaller- about 4 pounds lighter (Bennett was a chunk!) and 3/4 of an inch shorter.  She still has no teeth!!  But it looks like one is just about to break through and also looks like some are working their way down.  She's sleeping a little restless and I can only imagine it's because of her teeth.  She goes to bed between 7 and 7:30 and wakes between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning.  I can't complain with that.  Compared to her brother, she's slightly a better sleeper than he was.

All in all, she's growing into a beautiful, sweet, and smart little girl.  Bennett loves her and does really good with her.  They have their little battles, but their siblings, what do you expect?  :)  My favorite is when he goes up to her and says "hey pretty girl!"  :)  I wouldn't trade my kids for anything!  We are blessed to have 2 healthy thriving children!

We threw Leah her first birthday party a couple weekends ago.  Strawberry shortcake was the theme.  I found a cute dress on Etsy and she looked so adorable!!  I made a few decorations and kept it really simple.  We grilled hotdogs and had a few sides and then enjoyed some yummy cake from Publix.  She LOVED her smash cake!!!  Everyday I'm amazed at how big she's getting.  Here are some pictures!!

Here's to another year!!!!!
