Happy Halloween!!

This year is Bennett's first Halloween!  Mommy is probably more excited about it than he is though.  We decided to celebrate Saturday night since Sunday night we'll be getting ready for the next work week.  We do have a festival in our neighborhood Sunday night that we might walk to and check out but for the most part we'll be doing our trick or treating tonight.  And we'll cook our traditional chili for dinner.  It's nice and cool today so chili will be wonderful!!  Last year I believe it was fairly warm- chili is just better when it's cold.  We bought Bennett's costume several week ago- I hope it still fits him.  :)  We'll take him to a few neighbors' houses and call it a night.  We bought candy to give out so he can help us give out candy when we're done.  So excited to see my little cow all dressed up!!  Check back for pictures (you know me- I'll take a lot).  :)

On another note, Bennett is doing very well eating his food.  So far he has liked all the vegetables we've given him.  He's eaten sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, carrots and squash.  This morning we mixed some bananas in with his cereal for breakfast and he gobbled it right up!!  I think he likes eating real food off a spoon, which doesn't surprise me, seeing as his father loves to eat!  :)

The last night or 2, we've noticed he has been trying really hard to get his knees under him and get up on all four.  I don't think it will be much longer before he's up on all 4 rocking back and forth and then crawling!  He's still not sitting up completely by himself but he's almost there!  And still no teeth!  :)  I was late getting both my baby teeth and permanent teeth so he might be taking after me in that department.  He continues to get more hair and it seems to be getting a little bit lighter.  He loves to play in his exersaucer still, which has lots of noises and lights for him to observe.

He's just a bundle of joy and so sweet!!  We love him to pieces and pieces!!!  We honestly cannot get enough of him!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we rode out to Harmon's Pumpkin Patch.  What a great place for little kids- lots of stuff to do.  These are times I wish Bennett was old enough to do those things, but I know he'll be grown before I know it so I better not rush anything.  We went and walked around and snapped a few photos.  Then we found some animals that Bennett enjoyed watching.  It was such a beautiful day so we got some good pictures.

We had a great day and maybe next year we can go again when Bennett will be able to do more stuff.  Not only did we go to the pumpkin patch, we took his 6 month chair pictures yesterday.  He used to sit there while we took them, he now scoots all around on the chair.  :)  I honestly cannot believe 6 months have passed already.  I think back 6 months ago and still remember vividly his birth and our hospital stay.  Some things have gotten easier and then some things more challenging.  Now I look at my son and can't believe how much he has grown.  And he's only going to continue to grow and amaze me more!  He is a beautiful baby and we are so blessed to have him.  Right now he is almost sitting up.  Give him a few more weeks and I think he'll be sitting up really well.  We are starting to feed him food 3 times a day now.  At his 6 month check up, we talked in detail with the doctor about his feedings.  So for breakfast he's eating some oatmeal with bananas and now for lunch and dinner he's eating carrots.  He seems to like both.  I honestly believe he won't be a picky eater.  But I am saying that before giving him peas or green beans.  :)  At his appointment he weighed 18 pounds and measured 26 inches.  He received a good report and we'll go back again in 3 months!!  Dr. Delaney also gave him a book!  They are part of a reading program so at every well visit, Bennett will get a book.  How neat is that?!

Here are his 6 month pictures:

SC State Fair

Today we went to the state fair- always an interesting event but this year we had sweet Bennett with us.  We go for the food and to look at the animals.  Not long after we got there, Bennett fell asleep so I thought he was going to miss out on all the excitement.  We ate Fiske fries, a foot long corn dog, cheese sticks, and fried mushrooms, and walked around in the cattle barn and past the bunnies and chickens- still asleep.  When we stopped for food again he woke up, which made me happy.  I didn't want him to miss his first fair experience.  We walked in the sand sculpture building and he was ready to eat- that's what we said was his fair food.  :)  Next year we'll be able to share some better food with him.  After that we walked back through to see the animals.  We showed him the cows, which he wasn't too interested in.  He liked the chickens.  He kept looking at them and then at one point one of the chickens crowed really loud and it startled him.  It didn't upset him- he just kept looking at him, wondering what it was.  All in all, we had a really good time and I managed to take a few pictures.  His first trip to the fair at 6 months was great!!
